Error: Can't Play

My work acknowledges the frustrations of navigating life alongside COVID-19. I am exploring this through the form of the computer screen, utilising imagery and screenshots that juxtapose what I see against what the screen sees.

While everyone's experience with COVID is singular, the emotions people feel are shared. This work captures that monotonous, mundane and repetitive day to day experience we’re all facing as we interact online.

Screenshots of my face show the range of emotions experienced in this new online world. These coupled with the frequent glitches and error signs that constantly pop up on the computer symbolise the growing frustration with the current online life, the lack of social interaction and how damaging this can be.

I want to create a piece that is relatable. A sense of humour and community is vital within this virtual world we are all adapting to.

BIOGRAPHY

I am a 21-year-old art student who is a bit lost with life, trying to find my place in the world but with the self-awareness to know that I am not special in that regard.

I have always been interested in psychology. The theme I always come back to is people and their emotions. This is where my interest lies, using the clay as a versatile medium to express these ideas.
